THE VOICE IS BACK! THE VOICE IS BACK! THE VOICE IS BACK!
Oh my GOSH, y’all! Someone find me a ventilator because I am hardly breathing. After what seemed like an eternity, TV show The Voice is finally back on the air, and we’re back to the basic judges: The hunky rock guy, the smooth R&B producer, the token blonde, and Blake.
Yes, we have to admit that we were thrilled to see Christina Aguilara back in the judging mix. No offense to those who are pro-Gwen Stefani, but there is just no substitute for Christina’s judging skills when it comes to The Voice.
And the PERFORMANCES. Honestly, the Blind Auditions are exactly the reason why we love this show so very much. The anticipation. The talent. The battling. It’s just so fantastic.
And that is why I am thrilled to bring you my favorite performance of the night.
Meet Alisan Porter, and strap in for her killer performance of the classic Roy Orbison tune, “Blue Bayou.” Sure, it might have taken Christina a little bit to turn around, but we’re going to pretend it’s because she was intimidated by Alisan’s strong voice. Ultimately though, Cristina Aguilara did turn around her judging chair (that means “YES,” in THE VOICE judge-chair language) and after an empowering story of finding love, having a family, and getting sober, Alisan joined Christina. If you’re thinking that Alisan looks a little familiar, then you’re right: She was the little girl who played Curly Sue in the movie of the same name.
Welcome back, Christina and WELCOME BACK TO THE VOICE!
