TV Land Cancels Dukes of Hazzard Over Confederate Flag Controversy
This has reached levels of being ridiculous! TV Land announced today that they will be pulling one of America's all-time favorite shows "The Dukes of Hazzard" amid the growing controversy over the use of the Confederate Flag atop the "General Lee," a 1969 Dodge Charger that was the getaway, rabble-rousing, bad-ass SUPER PROP of the TV show.
TV Land has yet to give an official statement on the cancellation of the show's reruns.
We encourage you all to go to TV Land's Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/tvland and let them know that this is completely unacceptable!
Warner Brothers, who made the show from 1979 to 1985, said they are discontinuing sales of any Dukes of Hazzard merchandise with the Confederate Flag, including the "General Lee" toy model cars.
“Our beloved symbol is now being attacked in a wave of political correctness that is unprecedented in our nation of free speech and free expression,” says actor Ben Jones, who played the role of the mechanic "Cooter."
We hope another channel will pick up "The Dukes of Hazzard" and keep it on the air!
