October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a disease that touches many of us either directly or indirectly. Nearly a quarter of a million women were diagnosed with this aggressive and painful disease last year, with nearly 40,000 of those women losing their lives.
As of 2013, nearly 3 MILLION women in the United States alone had either survived cancer or were actively fighting it. The statistics are staggering and the experience is heart breaking.
Breast cancer is often seen as a woman’s disease, but according to the American Cancer Society’s statistics, nearly 2,300 men were diagnosed last year of which nearly a quarter of them succumbing to the disease.
There are some men out there who are doing their part to help find a cure. Jason Aldean is one of them. Donating a portion of all ticket sales is something that Aldean has always done, but this year, he’s doing a little something extra.
He is literally rolling out the concert red carpet for some of his fans who are fighting/surviving breast cancer!
“They get there early and get to see the stages going up and just all the craziness that goes on around the show. Then we eat dinner together, and they get a front-row seat. They get the red carpet laid out for them, and it’s been great.” Aldean said in an interview with People magazine.
Over the last decade, Jason Aldean has raised nearly $2.3 million dollars for cancer research, and has teamed up with the Susan G. Komen Foundation to further the pursuit of a cancer-free future. Jason has no intention to slow down his fundraising efforts, and joins the Susan G. Komen Foundation in encouraging early detection as the key. Let’s work together and imagine a world without cancer.
