Southern Food and Healthy!

Us country girls like some of the finer things in life: Fire pits. Cold beer. Pickup trucks. Sweet boys. Southern drawls. Starry nights. Wild days.

And food. We LOVE good food.

But just because we love some of the finer things and some of the richer foods, doesn’t mean that we should neglect our health and wellbeing. With heart disease and diabetes on the rise in women at a rapid and concerning pace, it is important for us to enjoy all of our favorite foods in a more healthy and sustainable way.

Sounds boring, right?

Well, you can quit your worrying right there! The fine folks of Southern Living have taken some of the most decadent, mouthwatering, soul-satisfying southern comfort foods and made them more heart (and waist line) healthy. You get all of the taste, and less of the artery clogging madness.

Green bean casserole? Mac and Cheese? Cornbread crab cakes? Carrot cake? Fried pork chops? They have all of our favorite recipes, but lightened up!

I feel better all ready.

What is your favorite southern comfort meal?
