Merle Haggard Cancels More Tour Dates Due To His Bout With Pneumonia
Gosh, we didn’t want to see it come down to this.
When you think of the quintessential country man, it is hard to think of anyone more befitting the title than Merle Haggard. He’s tough, he’s dedicated, and he’s hard working. He is the voice of so many generations and the epitome of real country sense and sensibility.
The 78 year-old singer, however, is not invincible. In December, 2015, he had to cancel some tour dates as he battled double pneumonia. While there was hope that Mr. Haggard would recover quickly and get back on the road, it would appear that it just isn’t in the cards yet.
According to his publicist Tresa Redburn, Mr. Haggard is still in too weak of a state to continue performing at this time, and has canceled his remaining February dates as well. “Merle is hopeful he will be back on the road later in the spring,” said Redburn in a statement.
Our prayers are up for you, sir. Give that pneumonia hell and get back on the state.
