My Country Plan for St. Patrick's Day
Erin go bragh, y’all!
St. Patrick’s Day is quickly creeping up on us, if you can believe it! If you want to celebrate the Feast Day of St. Patrick (because that is after all what the holiday is really for), but you want to stay true to your country roots, then let me give you a few insider tips on how to do that!
Skip the Cornbeef and Cabbage. Seriously, in Ireland, they don’t eat this on St. Patrick’s Day. If someone tells you that they do, ignore them. The traditional food is Lamb and Bacon. BACON. I say celebrate the day with a heaping plate of that.
Don’t Drink Green Beer. No one really does that, and it in the end it stains your teeth and if you regurgitate it at the end of the night, you’re going to have a nightmare on your hands. Drink a Murphy’s Irish Stout or if dark beer isn’t your thing, sip on some Jameson Irish Whiskey.
Crank Up the Tunes. No, not traditional Irish music – COUNTRY MUSIC. Hit the St. Patty’s Day theme hard! How about “Lucky Man” by Montgomery Gentry? Or “Big Green Tractor” by Jason Aldean? Perhaps Little Big Town’s “Four Leaf Clover?”
Regardless of how you celebrate, be safe and responsible! Crank the country, eat some bacon, and drink some whiskey.
