Believe it or not, some people actually do prefer working to partying on their birthdays. Earlier this month, the birthday boy was none other than Blake Shelton! Instead of celebrating with a day off, he opted to spend the night performing for his fans at the Country Jam, a well-known summer music festival in Grand Junction, Colorado, where he was actually the headline act.
All of Blake’s performances are special, but fans got a real treat when they were surprised by a very special guest: Blake’s fiancee and “The Voice” co-star, pop sweetheart Gwen Stefani. As he sang “Go Ahead and Break My Heart,” his lady-love appeared suddenly and with no introduction. The crowd went wild as Blake’s solo act turned into a duet.
The song has a special meaning for the couple, since it’s the very first one they’d ever performed on stage together. After the song, Gwen appeared once again to sing No Doubt’s rock anthem, “Hella Good,” and asked the concert guests to jump up and down for Blake’s special 40th birthday performance — and of course, the fans were only too happy to help make the country idol’s big Four-Oh an unforgettable birthday!
