Okay, we’ll admit it: This video made us do a double take when we first saw it. Surely, that couldn’t be Chris Stapleton on stage with Dierks Bentley, performing without his signature hat?
Actually yes indeed, it’s him! This 2013 Dierks Bentley performance of the song, “Fallen’ for You,” features a hatless Chris Stapleton singing back-up at a 2013 concert in the Irving Plaza in New York City.
Stapleton was part of the performance because he also performed on Dierks’s then-current album, “Up On the Ridge” as part of the backup vocals. Even though Chris Stapleton didn’t reach widespread success until 2015 with his album “Traveller,” the crowd at this venue sure seemed to be delighted with the performance…and we were pretty psyched to watch it, too!
Even without the widespread recognition that he has today, it’s easy to see that Chris Stapleton loves what he does, regardless of his public appeal. He’s beloved in Nashville for years of amazing work, and now we’re just lucky that the public has finally caught onto his talent and passion for music!
