Chris Stapleton is a sucker for a good story, especially if there’s a way to express it through music.

One of Chris’s earlier influences has been the great Waylon Jennings -- now there’s a guy who knows how to sing a riveting story!

When Chris got together Waylon’s son, Shooter Jennings (who looks a lot like his dad!), to sing Waylon’s “Don’t You Think This Outlaw Bit’s Done Got Out of Hand.”

He explained that he was drawn to the song specifically because it was heavily based on a true story of some difficult times in Waylon’s own life.

The two performed this classic hit at Full Moon Life’s A Night of Influence Celebrating Waylon Jennings and Hank Cochran in Nashville at Marathon Music Works.

We love that gravelly bluesy twist that Chris’s voice brings to this song.

“This Outlaw Bit’s” raw, heartbreaking lyrics of betray its upbeat tempo; the emotion that Chris and Shooter poured into this performance is just breathtaking!

Chris is introducing a whole new generation to Waylon Jennings and keeping the energy of old-school country music alive!
