People always say that music is the universal language. It can make us laugh together, cry a river of tears, or get up and dance!
Music can also make us feel inspired and hopeful; especially when it’s sang by legends like George Strait and the late Merle Haggard.
These two country music megastars got together one evening during ACM’s Salute to the Troops to sing the classic anthem, “The Fightin’ Side of Me.”
There’s no way that it could possibly have gotten any better!
This song was originally released by Merle in 1969, and has been performed hundreds of times since then -- but not like this!
George Strait added his special spin on this beloved country hit, and these two bad boys of country really brought the house down.
The audience sang and cheered throughout the performance; some people held up their lit cell phones and even candles to show their love for this masterful duet.
George and Merle couldn’t have picked a better way to honor our armed forces!
