George Strait Covers a Johnny Cash Classic

Advertisements

After a career that spanned over three decades, fans were heartbroken when George Strait announced his final tour in 2012.

It was aptly named the “Cowboy Rides Away” tour, and was designed to serve as a final goodbye to all of the fans that had been there to support him throughout his time in the spotlight. We loved seeing this footage from the show in Chicago; George covers the “Folsom Prison Blues,” and trust us, he does Johnny Cash some real justice with this version.

It’s hard to believe that a song that’s well over 50 years old can still rock the house like this! Fortunately for us, George has decided to come out of retirement in order to do a series of concerts in Las Vegas, as opposed to the rigorous life on the road.

If you’ve got a hankering to see George Strait in concert, you still have a few opportunities left — but we suggest that you get to Vegas before that cowboy rides away once again!
