Have you ever encountered someone who’s looked at an older person and wondered what his or her longevity secrets are?
If you ask Richard Overton, he might even tell you that the best part of life begins once you reach triple-digit age!
The folks at National Geographic’s Short Film Showcase shared a short film by Matt Cooper and Rocky Conly about one of the most intriguing elderly dudes around: Richard Overton, who was 109 at the time of the filming.
In this video, Richard explains some of his tips for happiness as well as longevity.
Some of Richard’s tips for a long and happy life include spending as much time with family and friends as possible, and waking up as early (or late) as you like.
And don’t forget to enjoy a few vices, like that rare cigar or occasional nip of whiskey -- after all, what’s life without a little bit of fun? This month marks Richard’s 110th birthday, and he’s still going strong.
Happy birthday, Richard! We hope you stick around for a lot longer, and share even more of your wisdom with all of us youngsters!
