Kenny Chesney’s Powerful Cover of an Alabama Classic
With a musical history that spans several decades, it is no surprise that the country band, Alabama, has inspired a few generations of past and present country artists. Although the group disbanded in 2009, there is a long list of musicians who have been influenced by their artistry.
In fact, so many modern artists love the time-honored country stylings of Alabama that a few years ago, several of them got together with the band and recorded the tribute album, “Alabama & Friends,” which features modern versions of Alabama’s award-winning songs.
This version of “Lady Down On Love,” covered by Kenny Chesney, is a soulful and powerful homage to a band that Chesney himself calls his friends, as well as major inspiration in his own artistic endeavors.
Alabama’s lead singer, Randy Owen, was equally honored that Kenny chose to perform this 1983 classic. “He sang the hell out of it,” Owens said of the performance. “Alabama & Friends” has brought a modern feeling to Alabama’s signature songs, which can introduce a whole new generation to this awesome traditional country band!
