Country music mega-star and all-around good guy Luke Bryan showed just how important local pride was this month when he stopped a concert at Ohio Stadium’s Buckeye Country Superfest in its tracks for a few minutes.
The reason for this interruption was actually quite important — the Cleveland Cavaliers had just made sports history, winning Game 7 of the NBA playoffs and gaining their first Championship victory in the history of the team.
Upon hearing the good news of the fans’ local triumph, Luke stopped the show, yelling “Hold up!” right in the middle of his hit song “Play It Again.” After a second of silence, he then gave a brief unscripted announcement to his Ohio audience: “Congratulations, Cavaliers, you’re world champions!” After he spent a few seconds confirming the win with the crowd, Luke and his band started playing the song again as Cavs fans were shown on the big screen.
It’s just one more reason that Luke Bryan is so beloved by his fans: outstanding talent, a big heart, and of course he also knows how to fire up a crowd!
