It has been said that imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. But when a country artist does their own take on a traditional pop song, it can take both genres a step further!
Miranda Lambert gave Meghan Trainor’s recent hit, “All About That Bass,” some sizzling country flavor at the 2014 Country Music Association Awards, and it’s still one of our favorite crossover performances! The two artists lit up the stage as they belted out this popular anthem of confidence and self-acceptance.
A little-known fact about Meghan Trainer is that although she has been enjoying the limelight in the pop genre in recent times, her Nashville roots go deep. Trainor was a songwriter for country artists such as Hunter Hayes and Rascal Flatts before becoming a well-known singer in her own right — who would’ve guessed?
Meghan is definitely no stranger to the country scene behind the scenes, and we think the CMAs made a fabulous decision pairing her with Miranda for the show. Meghan brought her A-game, and Miranda added a big dash of fiery country-girl attitude. What’s not to love?
