Our Hearts Were Moved When George Strait and Alan Jackson Memorialized a Country Legend
A few years back, country music was forever changed when the legendary George Jones passed away.
Called “The Possum” by fans and friends alike, George Jones was a country icon with a career that spanned 60 amazing years!
The Country Music Association chose two iconic country artists -- George Strait and Alan Jackson -- to pay tribute to this great artist during the 2013 awards ceremony.
As a way to honor George Jones, these two performed a duet of Jones’s most popular song: “He Stopped Loving Her Today.”
The crowd’s mood was emotional yet respectful while George and Alan harmonized over a slideshow of some of George Jones’s most memorable personal and professional moments.
This tribute was a lovely and moving way to honor one of country’s finest performers.
George Jones may no longer be with us, but his influence lives in the many country artists that he has inspired.
He will never be forgotten!
