See What Happens When This George Strait Fan Grows up to Become a Country Singer
It has been said, time and time again, that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. While many artists have successfully covered George Strait’s wonderful music over the years, one of our new favorite artists on the scene has got to be Denny Strickland.
He is naturally smooth, clear voice reminds us just a little of George, and pairs it up nicely with George’s classic song “Run.” The song was originally written in 2001 by renowned songwriters Anthony Smith and Tony Lane.
It was recorded and released by George Strait in November of that year, and reached Number 2 on the Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart for 2001-2002.
Other artists have also covered it since then, but Denny Strickland really brings a little something extra to the table in his rendition of “Run.”
The song expresses the singer’s intense longing for a loved one, and lists all of the ways that they could travel to be together. George’s version is simple and soulful; Denny’s follows suit, but with a twist that’s all his own.
It’s great to see the next generation giving credit where it’s due!
