Music wasn’t as easy to access 30 years ago. If you wanted to hear your favorite artists, you’d hope that they would come on the radio once in awhile. If you had a music store nearby, you might get lucky and find a record or cassette that you enjoyed. MTV was in its infancy then, and there were little to no country artists to speak of playing videos there anyway.
But, there was always “Austin City Limits” on PBS. The show featured country music greats, as well as up and coming artists. One such feature in 1984 was a baby faced 32-year-old singer from Texas by the name of George Strait.
This retro video of his signature piece, “Amarillo By Morning,” is performed so well that even today, it still holds up as a timeless classic. Although George has put on a few years since this show aired, we think he has only gotten better with time — and he certainly still has just as much to offer during any performance.
