It seems like pop country star Carrie Underwood has been a part of the music for such a long time. Some of us may not remember that she started out as a 21-year-old Oklahoma girl with dreams of appearing on American Idol.
“He’s scary!” she said, pointing to judge Simon Cowell as she nervously entered the room to audition. But, despite an awkward confession as well as a silly chicken impression, Carrie won the judges over as voted Yes to her surprisingly soulful performance of Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me.”
The moment when her mother and biggest fan, Carole, saw the smile on Carrie’s face and gave her daughter a victory hug was heart-warming as well as inspiring. “I’m going to get to fly on a plane… all I know is what I’ve seen on TV, I don’t know what to expect out of Hollywood at all!”
This look back at Carrie’s historical performance just shows how far she has come since that day twelve years ago. Of course, Carrie Underwood still has so much more music to make and records to break. We can’t wait to see what she’ll be doing next!
