Vince Gill and Patty Loveless Pay a Moving Tribute at George Jones’s Opry Funeral Service
Very few country music artists have been as well loved as the lead singer songwriter, George Jones.
Although we lost him in 2013, his spirit lives on in the form of all the glorious music he made for the world.
He’s had many nicknames among his fans and colleagues, such as “The Possum” and “Thumper Jones.” However, during George's last 20 years as a country music artist, many folks referred to him as "the greatest living country singer."
We found this performance of "Go Rest High on That Mountain" at George's funeral to be so touching.
His friends, Vince Gill and Patty Loveless, sang this emotional hymn during his funeral service at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.
It is a moving and fitting tribute to one of country’s all-time greats. Although we still miss George so very much, we are blessed to have the musical legacy that he's left.
The fans that remember him will keep his spirit alive for future generations of fans.
