It’s no secret that Garth Brooks is a huge fan of classic rock icon Billy Joel. In fact, Garth released his own version of Billy Joel’s “Shameless” on his 1991 album, “Ropin’ the Wind,” and has enjoyed performing other covers of Billy’s songs over the years as well.
The coolest part is that it seems like the admiration is a two-way street; Billy and Garth have performed together on a number of occasions throughout the years.
Whenever these two cross paths, the crowd is pretty much guaranteed to hear something epic from this dynamic duo!
One of the most well known instances of their collaboration was during 2008’s infamous “Last Play at Shea.” Billy Joel was doing his final show in New York’s Shea Stadium before it closed its doors forever; of course, he invited some friends along.
The two of them chose to perform “Shameless” for that lucky crowd, who got to witness Garth perform wearing a Yankees uniform!
Shea Stadium has seen many artists come and go during its time, but this performance will always hold a special place in our hearts as well as in musical history!
